Discography

An accurate diagnosis is the crucial first step to treating any kind of chronic condition. This diagnostic procedure is used to determine if the origin of your lower back or spine pain is one or more discs. Discography (also called a Discogram) is a special X-ray test that allows the doctor to view the inside a particular disc or discs, and determine if it is the cause of your pain. The doctor will look for tears, scarring, bulges, and changes within the disc. Essentially, a sterile liquid is used to pressurize the suspected discs and induce pain. The presence of pain, rather than just pressure, may indicate damage or disease in the disc experiencing the pain. Discography can be an effective way to determine where treatment efforts should be directed.
